So much happened in season 1 of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. They managed to solve the main mystery in a way that made all the random tangents and threads make sense. While the story of who killed Patrick Spring is over, though knowing this show I could end up completely wrong about this, there are still enough unanswered questions to tempt us back for season 2. The new season promises to up the ante, starting with a few big casting announcements.
BBC AMERICA announced the casting of John Hannah, Alan Tudyk, Amanda Walsh and Aleks Paunovic as guest stars in season two of the highly anticipated scripted original series, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. Starring Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett, the series is penned by Max Landis (American Ultra, Chronicle) and executive produced by Robert Cooper (Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe). Adapted from the wildly popular novels by Douglas Adams (“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”), season two will return with ten episodes and premiere later this year. The series is produced by AMC Studios. It will stream globally on Netflix in countries outside the US.
· John Hannah will play THE MAGE; an evil wizard who is a sociopathic nihilist intent on destroying two worlds.

Recent casting announced also included Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Deadbeat) who will play Sherlock Hobbs, an under-stimulated, but overly enthusiastic small town sheriff who is eager to help Dirk and crew solve a new mystery. This season reunites Labine and Tudyk who co-starred in the cult film phenomenon Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.
The series is set in the unexpected world of the hyper, absurd, eponymous detective Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett). Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, is a serialized comedic thriller that follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric “holistic” detective Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd (Elijah Wood), as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery a season, crossing unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and sometimes dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth.
